Well, although I with I were in Beijing, I am not. No, this is not Nancy or Robert...but JENNIFER!! Mom and Dad asked me to make this post as the internet is controlled where they are staying...so no facebook or blogspot for them :( They sent me an email with the details of their latest adventures, so I will post for them now.
"Well, we made it to Beijing on Sunday morning at 8:30am and we are VERY lucky to get on that flight. As it turns out, Germany has a 2 week holiday that started Friday (who knew! - ok, I added that part), which was the first day we tried to travel. We missed one flight Friday to Beijing then stayed at the Sheraton Hotel at the airport (cheaper then Cape Town) - only 170 euros per night. Saturday we tried to get to Cathay Pacific to Hong Kong, as I had tickets for them too...but no luck there. So, I bought a few tickets from Air Canada counter to London then to Hong Kong and Beijing. Will refund all unused tickets when we get back. So then we tried Lufthansa again Saturday afternoon and we got what they call "jump seats"on the 747. The seats are upstairs in front of the first class just behind the flight deck door. There is a curtain behind us and first class, the pilot bunk bed was across from us with doors (closet size) and we had no window...BUT, we made it!!! We phoned the Hilton Beijing from the info counter at the airport and got a taxi to the hotel. We checked in and then slept for 3 hours. We walked down the street later to a mall then back to the hotel and booked 3 tours...today, city tour forbidden city, Tienanmen square and other stuff. Tomorrow, the Great Wall (I AM SO JEALOUS!!! WHEN ARE YOU TAKING ME!?!?) Wednesday, will go to the markets and whatever else. Thursday, we get a flight to zi'an to see the taricotta soldiers and then fly to Shanghai that night...full day! We fly from Shanghai to Sydney, Australia, Friday...when we can"
So...that is all they wrote! They will pic up facebook and the blog again sometime Friday/Saturday when they hit Australia! Not long now before they are headed home. Miss them tons :) Can't wait to see pictures of the China adventure!
BYE FOR NOW!
