Day 49 Oct24

It is hard to beleive that our 50 day trip is coming to an end, it has been an incredibly fun, exciting and interesting time.We have touched on six continents and 11 countries, all we enjoyed, some we found what we expected but also surprises. We met a lot of people and some that we quickly became friends with and if they are following our blog please email Robert & Nancy at whitesidney@shaw.ca as we want to stay in touch and may not still have you email or wrote it wrong!
Our days in Austrailia have been a lot of fun, since arriving on Sunday. We have done a number of tours and visited a lot of tourist sites. We took the opentop bus, which is a good way to get your directions and lay of the area. This toured around the city and lots of stops to jump on jump off, Bondi Beach was really nice and could be a trip on it's own.We did the Sydney Tower sky walk on Friday, the view was spectacular,we should have done this on day one as you can really see where things are and get your directions. We did the Aquarium and it too was cool, walking through the glass tunnels under the fish was quite relaxing. The Blue mountains tour was an all day experience we did on Wednesday, and is located about 100 km. west of Sydney. It is another one of the many sites we have see that we say the pictures just don't do it justice. On the return to Sydney we went through the 2000 Olympic Park then got dropped off on a Rivercat boat into the city.
We check out of this hotel ,our third, and move out near the airport to our fourth. Our flight leaves Sydney at about 11am Sunday. So today will be slow paced I think we will try out their train system maybe go out to Bondi Beach. We are getting better at using transit systems and I think on arrival in Vancouver we will take our trains and busses to our home, just for the final experience.
Will post again when I can.

Day 43 Oct 19

Well I haven't done a post since Genmany about 10 days ago, our Daughter Jennifer did a post for us as our blog was blocked in China.
Now we are in Sydney Australia, and arrived here on Sunday morning at about 9am.We caught a shuttle into the hotel after i phoned around and found one.we stayed the first night at yhe Amora hotel, very nice, just one night. Now we are in the Hilton for one night, also nice and a little less, but hey, after Cape Town its cheap! We move tomorrow to The Menzies hotel, for four nights cheaper again,Hilton full.
Back in germany we missed the flight as it was full and we are standby,so spent the night at the Sharaton at the airport. The next night we got on and had a good flight on Lufthansa to Beijing. We got the last seats, jump seats which are behind the flight deck and ahead of the first class,no window for us but happy to be on!Go invited upfront to see Moscow from 33000ft. as we flew by on the north side,COOL.
We really enjoyed our five days in Beijing,as we did two days of guide tours, just the two of us and guide, thentook a day to just laze around and left the next day on a Air china flight to Xi'an,2 hours. Here we saw the terra cotta factory and the methods to make them, then off to the Terra cotta warrior and horses musium. After lunchour guide, again just the two of us, took us to the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, very cool site. Then we were off to the City wall and here we rented bikes and rode the wall for a half hour, rough! We were dropped at the airport to catch a flight to Shanghai,we arrived at10:30pm,and got a taxi to the Hilton Hotel, arriving just before midnight, long day as we left the Beijing hotel at 5:30am.
Shanghai was ok,we didn,t get around much,as we slept in and made our way to the airport for a 7:35pm flight. This was not to be as the flight was fulland we spent the night at the airport hotel, very very hard bed,not a good sleep. We took a round trip on the Mag Lev train while we had time to and was a lot of fun,330km/h one way then 430km/h back to the airport. That night we tried for another Qantas flight to Sydneyand again it was full, but visa found us a seat and we were on.Nice to be here in Australia and up to date on my blog.we have a lot of tours and sites to see here.Today we did laundry again andtook the opentop bus tour, our fouth on this holiday. We later took the monorail circuit, fun.
